China, India to hold joint
anti-terror military exercise

Dec 4 (Xinhua) China and India will conduct a joint anti-terror
military exercise Dec 6-14 in southern Indian state of Karnataka,
defence ministry spokesman Huang Xueping said here Thursday.
The
exercise code-named "Hand in Hand 2008", will be
conducted in Belgaum district. The Chinese contingent, comprising
137 soldiers, already arrived at the training site, he said.
The
programme is organised as part of a defence exchange and cooperation
agreement signed by the two countries in 2006, Huang said.
It will also enhance understanding and trust between the two
armies, he added.
The
nine-day exercise will include weapons and other equipments
as well as communication tactics. The two countries held their
first joint anti-terrorism training last year in Kunming in
southwestern Chinese province of Yunnan.
